Lindor had an MVP-caliber season for the Mets.
Francisco Lindor has officially been named a finalist for the Hank Aaron Award, which is given annually to the best offensive performer in each league. Voting is now open for the award.
Lindor has had an MVP-caliber season for the Mets, and very well could have been the first MVP in team history had it not been for Shohei Ohtani’s historic 50/50 campaign. Lindor slashed .273/.344/.500 with 33 home runs, 107 runs scored, 91 runs batted in, and 29 stolen bases in 152 games. He posted a career-best 137 wRC+ and 7.8 fWAR. Lindor has also come up big when it’s mattered most, hitting the home run that sent the Mets into the postseason in the team’s penultimate game, and the Grand Slam that secured their spot in the NLCS.
Other candidates from the NL include William Contreras, Elly De La Cruz, Freddie Freeman, Bryce Harper, Ketel Marte, Jackson Merrill, Marcell Ozuna, Kyle Schwarber, and Ohtani. Ronald Acuña Jr. and Ohtani won the award last year for the NL and AL, respectively. Voting will conclude on Sunday, October 13 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The winner will be decided by a combination of the fan vote and a panel of Hall of Famers.
