The remix of Candelita’s song is out today!
The remix of Candelita’s hit “OMG” has been released, and you can listen to it right here or on whichever streaming platform you use to listen to music.
The remix features Pitbull and Colombian singer Silvestre Dangond, and if you’ve been digging the team’s unofficial 2024 anthem, you’ll undoubtedly like this version of it, too.
As a reminder, Jose Iglesias—AKA Candelita, of course—didn’t make his Mets debut until May 31 after starting the season in Triple-A Syracuse. Not long after his arrival, Mets players adopted the original version of “OMG” as the team’s rallying cry. It was playing in the clubhouse and on Citi Field’s speakers after home runs long before Iglesias cemented his status as an important part of the team’s major league roster.
Since then, Iglesias has put up the best single season of his career at the plate. He’s contributed to the Mets’ success thus far in these playoffs. And when he held up his OMG sign after the team’s NLDS clincher at Citi Field, it was a surreal, well-earned moment. For a veteran player who started the year in the minors to rise to such a prominent, unique role has been surreal and awesome.
