Jesse Winker starts at DH, while Starling Marte is batting fifth.
The Mets have announced their lineup for Game 1 of the NLCS against the Dodgers, and let’s get right to it:
- Francisco Lindor – SS
- Mark Vientos – 3B
- Brandon Nimmo – LF
- Pete Alonso – 1B
- Starling Marte – RF
- Jesse Winker – DH
- Jose Iglesias – 2B
- Tyrone Taylor – CF
- Francisco Alvarez – C
SP: Kodai Senga
As has been the case throughout the postseason, the Mets are mostly keeping a steady lineup while swapping J.D. Martinez and Jesse Winker at DH. And while Jeff McNeil is on the Mets’ NLCS roster, he’s not getting the start in Game 1 with right-handed Jack Flaherty on the mound for the Dodgers.
Aside from that Starling Marte’s move up to the fifth spot in the lineup is a first for the Mets’ postseason run. He’s started all seven of the team’s game so far and was slotted in to the seventh spot in the order for all of those.
