The Mets are running out the same lineup that won them Game 5
Here is the Mets’ announced lineup for Game 6 of the National League Championship Series tonight against the Los Angeles Dodgers:
- Francisco Lindor – SS
- Brandon Nimmo – LF
- Mark Vientos – 3B
- Pete Alonso – 1B
- Jesse Winker – DH
- Starling Marte – RF
- Tyrone Taylor – CF
- Jeff McNeil – 2B
- Francisco Alvarez – C
Order-wise and position-wise, this mirrors the Mets lineup during their Game 5 victory against the Dodgers on Friday.
That lineup was notable for three big reasons: Jesse Winker replacing J.D. Martinez as the designated hitter, Jeff McNeil replacing Jose Iglesias as the second baseman (though Iglesias would later enter as a defensive substitute), and Francisco Alvarez keeping his spot in the order after a disappointing offensive stretch.
All three moves worked out well for the Mets offense, who became the first playoff team since the 2002 Anaheim Angels to record zero strikeouts in a postseason game. Winker finished 2-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored, while Alvarez finished 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
