The 28-year-old threw 10.2 innings at the major league level last year.
The Mets have claimed right-handed relief pitcher Austin Warren off waivers from the Giants.
The 28-year-old is coming off a 2024 season that saw him throw 10.2 innings in the big leagues with a 1.69 ERA and a 4.88 FIP. In 27.0 innings in the minors last year, Warren had a 4.67 ERA and a 4.32 FIP.
Before joining the Giants last year, Warren had thrown some innings for the Angels at the major league level in each of the 2021 through 2023 seasons. In total, he’s logged 48.2 major league innings, and he has a 3.14 ERA with a 3.91 FIP, an 18.8 percent strikeout rate, and a 7.4 percent walk rate as a major league pitcher.
Warren is yet another fringe major league reliever to get picked up by the Mets this offseason, a strategy that the Mets’ front office employed ahead of the 2024 season, as well. Mets relievers wound up finishing last season with a 4.03 ERA that ranked 17th in all of baseball.
