Syracuse got the 2025 season started on the right foot, beating the Woo-Sox thanks to some late inning heroics. Blade Tidwell made the start for the Mets and looked great, allowing a run over five innings, scattering a hit and a walk while striking out five. With things knotted up at two apiece in the eighth, Diego Castillo put Syracuse ahead with a sac fly and Gilberto Celestino added an insurance run with an RBI single. That extra run proved important, as Red Sox first baseman Abraham Toro slugged led off the bottom of the ninth with a solo homer. Genesis Cabrera bent but did not break, allowing the tying run to reach base but closing the door on a Boston comeback.
