Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (2-2)
SYRACUSE 5, SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 1 (BOX)
The Mets played a complete game on both sides of the ball, so to speak, to pull their record to 2-2 on the young season. Dom Hamel got them off on the right foot on the pitching side, throwing five scoreless innings, surrendering just two hits and walking none. Anthony Gose (who some of you may remember as a Top 100 prospect as a hitter circa 2012, has been plugging as a pitcher since 2017 and is a fun story to keep an eye on in Triple-A this year) came in to relieve Hamel and threw two scoreless frames of his own. Austin Warren finished the game up with two innings of his own, surrendering a garbage time run in the ninth inning when the game was all but over.
Offensively, 2022 fantasy baseball legend Joey Meneses was the star of the show, hitting two RBI doubles, one in the first inning and another in the fifth. Travis Swaggerty drove in two of his own, one on a single in the sixth, and a sacrifice fly in the eighth. Donovan Walton put the capper on the day with an RBI single later in the eighth inning, pushing the lead to 5-0 at the time.
