Catch up on all the Mets prospects in yesterday’s minor league action!
Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (7-9)
Two runs in the first was all it took in this one. Joey Meneses and Billy McKinney delivered the goods, then let the arms take over; 15 strikeouts and only six baserunners later and Syracuse had their seventh win. Drew Gilbert returned to Triple-A and had one hit in four trips to the plate.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (4-6)
BINGHAMTON 6, READING 2 (BOX)
Jack Wenninger continues to dominate early in the season in Double-A, tallying six more strikeouts en route to his third win. Baseball Prospectus’ Jeffrey Paternostro has said he thinks Wenninger is more similar to Tyler Stuart than the actual high-end pitching prospects in the Mets system; while I’m not pumping Wenninger to the moon just yet, I think that’s too harsh a grade. Wenninger has better stuff and has demonstrated a greater ability to miss bats, and I think there’s a real shot he sticks at the back of a rotation.
Also, Jett Williams homered and stole a base. Maybe he can solve the Mets 2B or CF woes at some point this season.
- SS Jett Williams: 2-5, 2 R, HR (2), 2 RBI, 2 K, SB (2)
- CF Nick Morabito: 0-4, BB, K

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (8-4)
BROOKLYN 7, ABERDEEN 3 (BOX)
Chris Suero went 1-for-3 with a double and two steals; that lowered his OPS on the season to 1.334. Not a typo. He’s looked beyond fantastic so far this year, and he’s doing this in one of the most unfriendly offensive environments in minor league baseball (particularly early in the season). I’d expect him in Binghamton before too long.
His efforts helped lead Brooklyn to their eighth win. The arms were a little wild today, walking six, but still wracked up 12 strikeouts. This roster is just so much fun.

Single-A: St. Lucie Mets (6-6)
TAMPA 6, ST. LUCIE 1 (BOX)
This wasn’t a great game from any of the relevant Mets’ prospects involved, and indeed it was a fairly uncompetitive loss. But Jeff McNeil made a nice play in center and seems to be inching closer to a return. Take that small win and forget the rest.
