Meet the Mets
The Mets somehow defeated the Marlins 6-5 to take the series in Miami. The offense was stagnant for most of the game, but with the team down by three, a mighty blast off the bat off Pete Alonso tied the game at four in the eighth. Luis Torrens kept the game tied when he tagged a runner out at home in the bottom of the inning, and when nobody scored in the ninth, the game went to extras.
The Mets wasted an opportunity in the tenth but in the eleventh they managed to push two runs across. Huascar Brazobán then saved both the game and the day when Miami pulled to within one in the bottom of the inning against Danny Young, but he shut the door to give the Mets their first series win of the 2025 season.
