Reporting from Jon Heyman of the New York Post revealed a few breadcrumbs regarding how Steve Cohen and the Mets’ meeting with coveted free agent Juan Soto went yesterday. The Mets’ presentation to Soto was reportedly “very detailed” and a “big production” and the Mets came out of the meeting feeling optimistic about their chances to entice Soto to come to Queens. The Yankees are scheduled to meet with Soto on Monday.
Luis Severino is unlikely to accept the Mets’ qualifying offer and will seek a multiyear deal in free agency, according to reporting by Will Sammon of The Athletic.
