The New York Mets have advanced to the NLCS following a grand performance in the Division Series against the NL East champion Philadelphia Phillies. The Mets took Game Four by a score of 4-1, clinching a 3-1 series win. It was a combined effort with everyone contributing. New York had solid starting pitching throughout the series. The Mets’ stars maintained a strong presence, but extra support was provided by complementary players.

Mets Beat Phillies in 4 Games, Advance to NLCS
The Mets’ hustle, resiliency, and ability to overcome obstacles are what make them a real threat in the postseason. This relentless aura can certainly engage fans by upholding success with significant instances through both offense and defense. The fact this team doesn’t quit keeps the Citi Field crowd in the game at all times, and helps them maintain the heart and determination to compete at the highest level. The Mets have fought to the end in every game this October, and haven’t shown any signs of slowing down or being exhausted.
The Mets got strong performances from many players, but some worthy of mention are Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, Starling Marte, Brandon Nimmo, Sean Manaea, and Kodai Senga. Senga was the Game One starter for the Mets. Although he only pitched two innings in his first start back from injury, his outing set the table for the Mets to take command of the series. It’s no surprise that Lindor has been red hot in the postseason and is up against Shohei Ohtani for the NL MVP this season. The three-time Silver Slugger‘s grand slam powered the Mets to the Game Four win and their first NLCS trip since 2015. Manaea pitched into the eighth inning of a dominant 7-2 victory in Game Three.
The Mets defied the odds against the Phillies, who ESPN’s Jeff Passan believed were the best team in MLB. But the Mets have continued to surprise. Passan applauded the Mets’ never-say-die approach as Game Four came to a close.
