The New York Knicks and center Ariel Hukporti have agreed to a two-year, standard NBA contract. Hukporti is currently on a two-year deal with New York. The second season is reportedly a team option for New York.
The Knicks have to add two players on standard contracts, as they’ve played the first two weeks of the season with only 12 players on standard deals. Teams can go only 14 days at a time, and 28 days total, with less than 14 players on standard contracts.
Hukporti has flashed in limited minutes with New York. He’s grabbed seven rebounds and blocked four shots in just 29 minutes.
The Knicks are likely to add a second player on a veteran minimum deal. New York has both Matt Ryan and Landry Shamet with the Westchester Knicks of the G League. Both are options to fill the 14th standard roster spot in New York.
