Instead of applauding the New York Knicks for their gutsy effort against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night, Charles Barkley decided to attack their fan base on “Inside the NBA.”
Barkley started off his rant by saying he doesn’t care who wins each game. He then contradicted himself by saying he wants the Boston Celtics to knock Tom Thibodeau’s squad out of the playoffs.
“People think we care who wins,” Barkley said. “If the Knicks win that’ll be good. I don’t care who wins. but I’ll tell you what: I would love to see they [expletive] get stomped by the Celtics, that’d be great. I’m just saying, whoever wins this series gonna get stomped by the Celtics.”
Barkley didn’t stop there with his blunt assessment of New Yorkers.
“New Yorkers y’all deserve it,” Barkley said. “Y’all think y’all the greatest thing since sliced bread. Y’all ain’t that good in New York, come on man, you’re overrated.”
Honestly, Barkley is probably just poking fun at the Knicks because he knows it’ll bother the city and their fans.
The Knicks, however, deserve a ton of love for their “next man up” mentality this postseason.
On Friday night, the Knicks will face the Pacers on the road. They’ll try to take a commanding 3-0 series lead.
