“If Jalen Brunson signs that extension with Dallas, I think there is a high likelihood that he would be with the Brooklyn Nets right now,” MacMahon said. “Because listen, Mark Cuban has always been about chasing stars… Kyrie Irving was going to become available the next season as he did. At the time the Mavericks did because they needed a star to replace Brunson, but I think they would have looked at that as an upgrade.”

In this Brunson-Irving potential trade scenario, however, how would the trade have looked different compared to the real one that came to fruition? “They probably keep Dorian Finney-Smith in that case,” MacMahon continued. “Maybe they don’t have to give up a first round pick… But I think there’s a pretty decent chance that Jalen Brunson would have been moved to Brooklyn with Kyrie Irving still ending up in Dallas. It’s one of those things where we will never know.” -via Clutch Points / August 16, 2024

Brandon Robinson: 📍Broadcast News: DirecTV has added @ThePlayersTV to their viewership package. Kyrie Irving, Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul are co-majority owners of Players TV, a media network that provides sports content through culture and original programming. In a world where TV deals are the talk of the summer with major networks like NBC, Amazon and ESPN securing new television rights deals with the NBA, it’s great to see athletes at the negotiating table while also controlling their own likenesses and navigating their own digital footprints through intellectual property. 🧠🧠 This also looks great business-wise for Dwyane Wade who has been a media darling this summer during the U.S. Olympics broadcast alongside Noah Eagle on NBC. Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Champion Travis Kelce is also a minority stakeholder along with Vernon Davis. NBA’ers Carmelo Anthony, DeAndre Jordan and CJ McCollum are also stakeholders. WNBA royalty Natasha Cloud & Chiney Ogwumike are also in the ownership mix. For those keeping score at home: Players TV is also streaming on Amazon Prime, YouTubeTV, Vizio & Fubo. -via x.com / August 14, 2024
