Hokporti gets some security, while Ryan’s homecoming gives them some more depth
While much of the attention on the Knicks today centers around their return to Houston, marking their first visit since Jacyn Goble’s controversial late-game call last season, New York has quietly made a pair of anticipated moves.
The New York Knicks and two-way center Ariel Hukporti have agreed on a standard two-year NBA contract, sources tell ESPN. The new deal for Hukporti includes a team option in 2025-26 season. The 7-footer out of Germany has served as a viable big man in Knicks frontcourt. pic.twitter.com/0EQGoqp4Zx

Although Hukporti’s role has been limited so far, he has provided the team with much-needed depth as both Mitchell Robinson and Precious Achiuwa remain sidelined.
The New York Knicks and forward Matt Ryan have agreed to a deal, league sources told @hoopshype. Ryan shot 45.1 percent from 3-point range for the New Orleans Pelicans last season. The 27-year-old, 6-foot-6 forward was born in White Plains and played for Iona Prep in New Rochelle, making this a homecoming for him. Ryan has appeared in just 63 NBA games but boasts an impressive 41.4% shooting from three-point range and is coming off a season where he shot 45.1% from three with New Orleans.
With these two moves, New York now has a “legal” 14-man roster, completing the transactions just hours before the deadline to fill the 13th and 14th spots set for Election Day on Nov. 5.
