There’s been no shortage of positive and negative posts on social media in the leadup to and immediate aftermath of the 2024 Presidential election. But New York Knicks star Josh Hart is really taking some heat for a post he made about the election.
Taking to his Instagram Story this morning, Hart posted a screenshot of a sign that said “NO MATTER WHO IS PRESIDENT, JESUS IS KING.” He’s hardly the first person to post a message like that, but a lot of fans – particularly in the New York-metro area – didn’t appreciate him posting that in the context of the Presidential election.
Lest we forget, newly-elected President Donald Trump is wildly unpopular in large swaths of New York City, so a post like this would certainly give the impression that Hart is downplaying how serious they find the result.
Judging by the immediate response on social media, that’s exactly what Hart has done. Users on X have descended on posts sharing Hart’s message and had a wide range of heated responses.

Some users had jokes, poking fun at him for making the post:
“Jesus needs to step up then. Man has been on load management for 2000+ years,” one user joked.
“Well @joshhart I thought Jesus was against kings why would want to be king lmao,” joked another.
Others collectively rolled their eyes and effectively told him to stop talking:
“Yeah just go grab those rebounds my boy,” one replied.
“Josh hart brains scattered across MSG,” wrote another.
On the court, Hart has been off to a good start, averaging 13.8 points, a career-high 9.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game through six games. The Knicks are 3-3 on the season with Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns both averaging over 20 points per game to start the season.
Let’s just hope that Hart’s politics – whatever they may be – aren’t causing any friction in the Knicks locker room.
The Knicks’ next game will be on the road against the Atlanta Hawks tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET.
