The New York Knicks may develop a case of buyer’s remorse when it comes to acquiring Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets.
Earlier this year, the Knicks sent Bojan Bogdanovic, Shake Milton, Mamadi Diakite and five first-round picks to the Nets in exchange for Bridges. It was a steep price to pay, but one the front office was willing to meet since the Villanova product plays exceptional defense and can average over 20 points per game.
At first, Knicks fans were amped up about the trade. Some of them have wanted Bridges on the team for the past two seasons.
Fast forward to the present day, and NBA fans are mocking the Knicks all because Bridges changed his shooting form in the offseason.
Bridges always had an unorthodox jumper, make no mistake about it. His new form, however, looks even worse.
Prior to this Tuesday’s season opener against the Boston Celtics, a video of Bridges shooting 3-pointers during warm-ups surfaced online. Unsurprisingly, fans couldn’t wait to troll him.
“He looks like he’s throwing a boulder,” one fan said.
Another fan tweeted, “Ball looks like it weighs 300 pounds.”
“I just want to know who got in his head about his shot and why,” a third person wrote.
“He’s like the new slo-mo bruh. This looks terrible,” a fourth person added.
Bridges can silence his critics with a sharpshooting performance this Tuesday against the Celtics.
Tipoff for the Knicks-Celtics game is at 7:30 p.m. ET. This could very well be a preview of the Eastern Conference finals.
