Josh Hart was a dedicated hater while watching track star Noah Lyles at the 2024 Olympics.
Hart admitted that he really wanted Lyles to lose each race he competed in after Lyles had his famous line “World champions of what?” when discussing NBA players winning the NBA Finals.
“I really wanted him to lose,” Hart said, (first transcribed by the New York Post). “Damn I wanted him to lose. I think this was the first time that all of the NBA Twitter banded together and was just hatin. I was hatin and I was just like damn, you know what respect. I can’t even hate anymore.”
Even though Lyles was hate watching, Lyles still came away with two medals from the 2024 Olympics. He won gold in the 100-meter final before taking home bronze in the 200-meter final.
He won that bronze medal even though he tested positive for COVID-19 a couple of days before that race.
Time will tell if Hart continues to root against Lyles in future Olympics. The next Summer Olympics will take place in Los Angeles in 2028.
Lyles will have a shot at adding more medals to his resume.
