Rookie forward Pacome Dadiet agreed to sign with the New York Knicks for 80% of his rookie scale amount. Players picked in the first round are eligible to sign for at least 80% and up to 120% of the rookie scale. Most players sign for 120% of the scale amount.
Dadiet may have gotten a promise from the Knicks that he would be drafted in the first round, if he took less than the scale amount. This will result in over $900,000 in savings for New York. That amount is significant, as the Knicks are trying to create as much wiggle room as possible to say below the tax aprons.
Reports are that Dadiet also paid a buyout to come to the NBA this season.
