KAT and Bridges take the floor for the first time as Knickerbockers!
In tomorrow’s inagural preseason game, the new look New York Knicks will take on the Charlotte Hornets. Both teams are looking to fine-tune their rotations ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. For the Knicks, key players like Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns (still getting used to that…) are likely to see restricted minutes as head coach Tom Thibodeau evaluates younger talent and new additions like rookie Tyler Kolek.
All eyes will be on how Towns integrates with the team and what chemistry is (or isn’t) apparent. Additionally, Thibs will want to see what the other draftees (Pacome Dadiet, Ariel Hukporti) can provide in support of the starters, as well as what skills Jericho Sims has perfected this offseason.
Kevin McCullar Jr.’s status for the Knicks remains unclear due to an ongoing knee issue (described as a bone bruise). He’s on a two-way contract and his injury kept him out of Summer League. We are eager to see what the 56th pick in this year’s draft could do on the second-unit.
Meanwhile, the Hornets will be eager to showcase their emerging core, including Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball, as they aim to carry momentum from their strong Summer League performance into the preseason. Miles Bridges, Josh Green, and Nick Richards are expected to round out the starting five. Charlotte got swept by the Knicks last season and should prepare to lose again today. Knicks by +8.
