KAT and Mikal take the MSG court for the first time as Knickerbockers.
The New York Knicks are set to host the Washington Wizards in a preseason matchup tonight, October 9, 2024, at Madison Square Garden. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET on MSG and NBA League Pass.
This game marks the second preseason contest for both teams as they fine-tune their rosters ahead of the regular season. The Knicks are coming off a 111-109 comeback victory against the Charlotte Hornets. Playing at half-steam, new acquisition Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 10 points and four rebounds in 15 minutes. Miles “Deuce” McBride led our heroes with 22 points off the bench; Landry Shamet made a strong case for roster spot by shooting 8-of-18 from the field and 4-of-9 from deep; and rookie Tyler Kolek played with confidence in his 14 minutes, scoring 11 points while directing the second-unit.
Elsewhere, the Wizards lost to the Toronto Raptors in their preseason opener, with rookie Alex Sarr, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, contributing 15 points.
The Wizards are expected to be in full tank mode this season. Their focus will remain on developing young talent like Sarr and Bilal Coulibaly. Veterans such as Kyle Kuzma, Malcolm Brogdon (injured again), and Jonas Valančiūnas could be sent packing to further accumulate future assets, as new head coach Brian Keefe navigates his first full season. The Zards are positioning themselves for a high draft pick in 2025 and counting on a brighter tomorrow.
As for tonight, this will be our first chance to see Towns and Mikal Bridges playing for New York at Madison Square Garden. Should be a helluva party. Hope you got tickets.
