Quentin Grimes in in the midst of the worst shooting slump of his NBA career. Through the New York Knicks first 20 games, of which Grimes has played in and started 18, he’s shooting just 35.9% from the field. Most of Grimes’ attempts are three-pointers, of which he’s hitting 34.5%, after knocking down over 38% in each of his first two seasons.
The third-year guard thinks part of his poor shooting is that he doesn’t see the ball enough to find a rhythm.
“I feel like I just gotta get more shots. You can’t get out of a rhythm unless you shoot the ball,” Grimes said. “So I feel like I’m coming in and I know I’m probably only gonna get one or two shots, and it’s gonna be tough because I’ve gotta make ’em or I know I’m coming out.”
Last season, Grimes took 8.5 shots per game, of which 5.7 were three-pointers. This season, those attempts are down to 5.7 total shots and 4.7 three-pointers per game. Grimes is also down to 22.9 minutes per game, after playing 29.9 minutes per game in his second season.
