One for the elders, one for the babies.
The New York Knicks are set to take center stage this Christmas, not just on the court but also in a virtual setup to be broadcast in partnership with Disney and ESPN.
As Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and the rest of your Blue & Orange Knickerbockers host Victor Wembanyama, Chris Paul, and the Spurs on Dec. 25 inside MSG, they will also be doing so in a first-of-its-kind animated format titled Dunk the Halls.

The animated telecast will stream on Disney+, ESPN2, and ESPN+. It will transform Madison Square Garden into “Main Street, USA” at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park, as announced by ESPN.
For the young fans out there, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and other Disney icons will be courtside as player movements from the real-life game will mirror real-time animation.
For those older and looking for detailed commentary of the action, Drew Carter and Monica McNutt will be the game announcers along with Daisy Duck working as the sideline reporter.
Sony’s Beyond Sports technology and Hawk-Eye Innovations will make it possible to track everything, from dimes to three-point shots and beyond.
The halftime show will feature Mickey & Co. competing in a slam dunk contest, with Santa Claus operating ESPN’s SkyCam and his elves running production during the game and this unique break.
The Disney characters will also deliver pregame speeches to players, decorate a massive Christmas tree, and even find time to stage a churro-eating challenge with Goofy, per NBA.com.
Other sports have enjoyed similar telecasts in the recent past, with the NFL airing a Falcons vs. Jaguars game from London with a coat of Toy Story applied all over it. Other examples include the NHL’s animated game broadcast of a Chicago Blackhawks game last season and the upcoming NFL clash between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cincinnati Bengals on Simpsons Funday Football scheduled for Dec. 9.

The Knicks will be part of the Christmas slate of games for the fourth consecutive season after a two-year hiatus. The matchup against the Spurs is the first against a Western Conference opponent since New York lost to the Thunder in 2013.
