The Brooklyn Nets (3-2) came into Sunday’s 97-90 loss to the Charlotte Hornets (4-1) looking to make the most of the last game of the Las Vegas Summer League. The Nets did have the goal of trying to get back to the semi-finals and go further than they did last summer, but when that didn’t happen, the team made sure to continue to compete and play for each other.
Guard Keon Johnson led the Nets with 15 points and three assists as he was trying his hand at playing point guard to see if that is something that he can provide to the franchise during the regular season. While Brooklyn’s point guard situation changed with the departure of Jacob Gilyard, the Nets did not panic as they decided to see if some of their other players could handle the playmaking duties in the absence of Gilyard and that came with mixed results.
Wing Dariq Whitehead came back to play for the Nets after missing Thursday’s 102-100 win over the Orlando Magic in overtime, but his struggles shooting the ball continued. With all of that being said, here are three takeaways from Sunday’s loss to the Hornets:
