Even though superstar Kevin Durant ultimately decided to stay with the Brooklyn Nets organization, at one point it seemed possible that he would be shipped within the division thanks to a tantalizing offer from the Boston Celtics.
Following the Celtics reported trade offer centered around young star Jaylen Brown, it seems that Boston’s core may have been brought closer together due to the situation.
A report from basketball writer Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe indicates that recently acquired guard Malcolm Brogdon has grown closer to Brown since the rumors. According to Brogdon, Brown “is not a guy that needs pep talks.”
“Like any human being, sometimes you want to be checked on to see how you’re doing, but that’s all I did with him,” Brogdon stated. “Jaylen’s a confident guy and he understands this is part of the business as well. So he’s a pro. He’s going to come back ready for training camp and ready to work.”
Obviously the trade discussions with Boston never went anywhere, but it sounds like the offer for Durant may have brought the Celtics bench closer together.
