Mikal Bridges informed the Brooklyn Nets earlier this week that he wanted to be traded to the New York Knicks, sources tell Ian Begley of SNY.tv. A deal with the Knicks came together quickly after Bridges approached the Nets with his request.
Bridges was prepared to sign with the Knicks when he became a free agent in 2026, which was his leverage against other teams potentially trading for him. The Houston Rockets are amongst the teams who have also had serious interest in trading for Bridges. Bridges is represented by Jordan Gertler and Sam Goldfeder.
The Nets acquired Bridges in 2023 from the Phoenix Suns as part of the Kevin Durant trade.
