Brooklyn Nets guard Dennis Schroder has been doing a wonderful job of leading the German Men’s National Basketball Team through the 2024 Paris Olympics as they have picked up three crucial wins. As a testament of how well Germany has been playing, they have made it to the quarterfinals to face a tough opponent.
The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced on Saturday that Germany will be facing Greece in the quarterfinals of the Olympics that starts on Tuesday. Germany is coming into Tuesday’s matchup with a 3-0 record after beating Japan, Brazil, and France during the group stage to get to where they are now.
Schroder has been doing his part for Germany as he is averaging 19.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game while shooting 54.8% from the field and 40.9% from three-point land. Schroder has also been getting some help as Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner is averaging 21.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per contest while shooting 51.1% from the floor and 21.2% from deep.
Germany will be heading to the quarterfinals for the second consecutive year after making it to the 2023 FIBA World Cup last summer and winning the gold medal. As of right now, Schroder and Germany look like they’re in a great position to compete for gold again and Schroder is a huge reason why.
