Year in and year out, Duke typically finds itself at or near the top of the college basketball recruiting rankings.
Rutgers is not a program that Duke usually shares that space with, but for 2024, the Scarlet Knights have a special class, led by five-stars Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper.
On Wednesday, Duke landed a commitment from five-star center Khaman Maluach, who is the No. 3 overall recruit in the 2024 cycle, per 247Sports’ proprietary rankings.
As a result, the Blue Devils now have commitments from the top-ranked prospect (Cooper Flagg) and Maluach at No. 3, while Bailey and Harper are the second-and-fourth ranked players in the class.
The first four spots on 247Sports’ individual recruiting rankings for 2024 look like this:

On the team side, Duke has the top-rated haul in the country, led by Flagg, Maluach and three other five-stars–Isaiah Evans, Kon Knueppel and Patrick Ngongba. The Blue Devils also have four-star Darren Harris signed up for good measure.
Rutgers checks in at No. 3, behind Duke and Kentucky. Besides Bailey and Harper, the Scarlet Knights signed four-star center Lathan Somerville and three-star forwards Bryce Dortch and Dylan Grant.
All of this should make for a fun 2024-25 season for both teams.
