Amid reports of the NCAA investigating Michigan football for potential sign-stealing, a halftime interview from Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano from earlier this season resurfaced on Thursday.
In the clip, which was filmed at halftime of the Scarlet Knights’ 31-7 loss to the Wolverines on Sept. 23, Schiano told the Big Ten Network that “there’s some stuff going on out there that aren’t right.”
The quote seemed peculiar at the time, and in light of today’s news, many people speculated that Schiano was referring to Michigan having some of his team’s signals.
However, NJ Advance Media’s Brian Fonseca says that is not the case.
“Schiano’s comments were in relation to an officiating issue and not related to suspected sign stealing,” Fonseca wrote Thursday afternoon.
A clip of Greg Schiano’s halftime comments against Michigan is going viral in the midst of the Wolverines being investigated by the NCAA.
They were not related to suspected sign stealing, a person with knowledge of the situation told NJ Advance Media: https://t.co/VJ5XibQBLw

The Big Ten alerted Michigan’s upcoming opponents of the NCAA investigation on Wednesday.
According to a report from Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger and Dan Wetzel, the Wolverines are being probed for possibly using personnel to do in-person scouting of opposing teams, a practice banned since 1994.
Michigan AD Warde Manuel released a statement on the ongoing investigation earlier today.
“I want to personally assure you that U-M Athletics will offer its complete cooperation to the NCAA in this matter,” Manuel said. “At the University of Michigan, all of us are committed to the highest standards of ethics and integrity for all members of our community. This is the same expectation I have of all coaches, staff, and student-athletes. Given ongoing investigation, I’ll have no further comments at this time.”
