It’s getting wet and wild at Yankee Stadium, but Rutgers’ Scarlet Knight mascot is equipped for the conditions.
Shortly after RU took a 28-17 lead over Miami in the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl, ESPN cameras panned to the Scarlet Knight on his team’s sideline.
He had commandeered a lawn mower that looks ready for off-roading in the rain, which has been falling throughout the second half in the Bronx.

The Scarlet Knight has to be enjoying what he’s seeing right now. After 17 unanswered points by the Hurricanes put Miami in front 17-14 early in the third quarter, it has been all Rutgers.
First, the Scarlet Knights scored on a blocked punt, which has become a trademark under head coach Greg Schiano. Trevor Yeboah-Kodie earned the block, with Timmy Ward falling on it in the end zone for six points.
The punt is BLOCKED and the ball is recovered for a #Rutgers Football TOUCHDOWN!

Later, running back Kyle Monangai, who led the Big Ten in rushing this season, carried the load on a touchdown drive that ended in a one-yard QB sneak by Gavin Wimsatt to put Rutgers ahead 28-17.
That’s where things stand right now with less than four minutes to play. The Scarlet Knights are looking for their first bowl victory in nine years.
