Class of 2025 three-star Marial Akuentok has started to see several Power 5 schools enter his recruitment as the high school season begins.
The 6-foot-10 center out of Fort Erie International Academy (ON.) holds offers from Seton Hall and Oregon.
Virginia, Florida and UNLV have also made contact and attended his practices over the past month.
Akuentok broke down some of his options to ZAGSBLOG:
Seton Hall: “They’ve been really consistent with their recruiting. Every day they’re talking to me, texting me, checking up on me, asking if I want more information and telling me more about the school and what they do.”
He mentioned he’s been in touch with assistant Rasheen Davis the most.
Virginia: “I recently just formed a relationship with them [Virginia]. They said like my game. They want to talk and form a connection. I was on a call with one of their coaches two or three days ago.”
Oregon: “I’ve been in contact with Oregon. They maintain their relationship with me.”
Akuentok doesn’t have any visits planned for the rest of 2023, but will look to visit schools in the near future.
He said his rim presence and inside game are two things he can bring to a college program.
“I’m a big presence on defense so I can bring my rim protection to any team. I’m good on offense as well. If you need a quick bucket, I can take it down to the post, go to work, get a bucket and get back on defense.”
