Matt Hodge, the Class of 2024 forward from St. Rose (N.J.) and the PSA Cardinals, is continuing his run of visits by tripping to Seton Hall and Xavier.
Hodge visited Seton Hall unofficially with his mother beginning last Friday.
“It was pretty good, it was a long day where I got a lot of information about Seton Hall, what their plan was for me and what they could see me [doing] if I decided to go to Seton Hall, which was actually pretty interesting,” Hodge said by phone. “I already had a good feeling about them and their staff and I got to know the other coaches and some of the players, which was nice.”
He added: “Everyone, including the coaches and the players, has the same mindset. They’ll go to war for the coach, and the coach will go to war for them, it’s the same mentality. You can that how the players talk about the coach.”
Hodge has a list of 10 schools but says Seton Hall is getting serious consideration.

“Any school that’s still on my list has the same value because otherwise I wouldn’t have picked 10 and I would’ve made it shorter, but no they’re as much as serious as the other schools,” he said.
Hodge and his father, former Old Dominion star Odell Hodge, are currently in Cincinnati where they began an official to Xavier on Monday.
“The same thing with [Coach Sean Miller], he really values me and shows me and told me that I could be an important piece to their success and help them keep on winning,” Hodge said.

“We had a presentation [Monday] where he explained to me all the important steps that were also important for me, their development, their winning culture. That was good because I feel like me and Coach Miller have the same mindset to where I believe that he could be a perfect coach that could develop me and they’re also known for winning.”
Hodge visited Villanova last month and has upcoming visits with Penn State (Thursday) and then Marquette (Sept. 7), Maryland (Sept. 14), Virginia (Sept 21) and Virginia Tech (Sept. 28).
He says he’s not tired of the traveling yet.
“Not yet, but it is a lot of traveling,” he said.
As for a timeline on a decision, he said, “I always told myself I felt like I was going to be ready [in] November but I could already see it being a little earlier than that because I know what I want and I have a feeling that after these visits I’ll know which is the right school for me so it could be earlier.”
