Seton Hall hosted 4-star combo guard Isaiah Coleman of Word of God Christian Academy (N.C.) and Team Loaded NC on an official visit this week.
The 6-foot-6 Coleman previously committed to College of Charleston before requesting his release. He’s ranked the No. 16 combo guard in the Class of 2023, per 247Sports.com.
“The visit went well and what we take from it is, you gotta come, do your part and play your part and everything should work out,” his uncle, Tron Minor, said by phone.
“He can rebound, he can defend, so he can play a lot of different styles. It’s about Zay doing his part. If he does his part, I like the staff, I like everything about Seton Hall so we’ll see how it goes.”
Alex Harris, Coleman’s coach at Word of God, said of Coleman: “He’s a 6’6” play-maker, one of the most gifted guys I have ever coached with the basketball. The things he does with the ball are almost unteachable,
“He shoots the mid-range at a high level. He can get to his spots and rise over the top and knock it down at high rate. He has great feel for the game, one of the best in the country. He plays with elite instincts. Defensively, he is a nightmare defending multiple positions with an elite motor.”

Minor said Coleman had no other visits planned right now and that Seton Hall was the favorite.
“I would say they’re my favorite right now, absolutely,” he said. “We’re all about the right fit and the right stage. Coach [Shaheen Holloway] said there’s minutes available if Zay come do his part so that”s what we’re looking for, someone that has an opportunity for him to play right now.”
Seton Hall has added several transfers in former St. John’s guard Dylan Addae-Wusu and bigs Elijah Hutchins-Everett (Austin Peay) and Jaden Bediako (Santa Clara).
Holloway’s team is expected to return a core of guards Kadary Richmond, Al-Amir Dawes and JaQuan Sanders along with with Dre Davis.
