The Johnnies moved into the top ten after going 2-0 against ranked Marquette and UConn last week
St. John’s is a top-ten team for the first time in over 25 years.
The Johnnies were ranked No. 9 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll released Monday afternoon, moving up three spots after defeating No. 11 Marquette at home and No. 19 UConn on the road last week.
This week’s ranking matches the highest ranking for St. John’s since the 1999-00 season when they were also No. 9 in the country in the final AP poll of the season. St. John’s was also ranked No. 8 in this week’s USA Today Coaches Poll.
Two other Big East teams join St. John’s in this week’s AP Poll. Marquette fell to No. 18, while Creighton entered the top 25 with a No. 24 ranking. UConn tumbled out of the AP Top 25 for the first time this season.
