The Red Storm received 90 votes in this week’s AP poll, the fourth-most among unranked teams
After an undefeated week, St. John’s is not back in the Associated Press top 25 yet, but they have a number next to their name in the Coaches’ Poll again.
The Red Storm received 90 votes in the latest AP top 25 men’s basketball poll released on Monday, the fourth-most among unranked teams, while also slotting into 24th in the Coaches’ Poll with 82 total votes. This is their third appearance in the Coaches Poll this season and their first since the November 18 poll when they were 22nd in the nation.
Meanwhile, the Red Storm are still searching for a return to the AP top 25, earning its last ranking in the November 18 poll when they were 22nd in the country. After the poll’s release, St. John’s suffered losses to then-No. 13 Baylor and unranked Georgia to drop them from the rankings after a two-week stay.
St. John’s went 2-0 to begin their Big East season last week with an 89-61 home win over DePaul and a 72-70 road win over Providence, with the latter being a 16-point comeback over the Friars capped by a game-winning putback layup by Zuby Ejiofor at the buzzer.
The Johnnies will return to action on Saturday, December 28, when they face Delaware at Carnesecca Arena (6:00 p.m., FS1).
