Ejiofor continues his impressive run by averaging 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in his first two Big East games of the season
Zuby Ejiofor ended up on the Nice List for a pair of impressive performances to open Big East play. The big man earned a spot on the Big East honor roll for a third straight week after averaging 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for St. John’s, the conference announced on Monday.
The Garland, Texas native posted 12 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks in only 24 minutes of play during the Red Storm’s conference-opening rout of DePaul on Tuesday, December 17.
Ejiofor then followed that up with his fifth double-double of the season by posting 19 points and ten rebounds in a 72-70 win over Providence in which he also scored a game-winning putback layup at the buzzer. Across those two games, Ejiofor shot 57.1% from the field (12-of-21).
So far through 12 games this season, Ejiofor is averaging 14.6 points, 7.8 rebounds (third-most in the Big East), and 2.3 blocks per game (second-most in the Big East and 17th-most in the nation), while shooting 58.1% from the field (second-best in the Big East). Ejiofor leads the country in total offensive rebounds with 55, as of December 26, 2024.
