Chimere Omeze was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Freshman Team, the conference announced in a press release Wednesday. Omeze is the first SU player to be named to the list since Curt Calov in 2021.
Omeze’s three goals and seven points finished second and third on SU, respectively. The freshman started 16 games and logged a team-high two game-winning scores.
In the first game of the season on Aug. 22, Omeze netted a game-winner against Colgate in the 87th minute. He scored his second tally in the next game against Niagara before later adding his second game-winning goal against Providence on Oct. 8.
Before Syracuse, Omeze played for the Canada Men’s Under-17 Team in the 2023 CONCACAF Championship and 2023 U17 World Cup. He was also named to the Top Drawer Soccer Midseason Top 100 Freshmen list as the 27th-best freshman earlier in the season. Omeze was the only SU player honored in the conference’s end-of-season awards.
