Syracuse wide receiver Jackson Meeks and linebacker Justin Barron earned Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday. The awards come following Syracuse’s 24-17 road victory over NC State Saturday.
Against the Wolfpack, Meeks continued his torrid stretch, recording a career-high 11 receptions and 116 yards total. The senior capped off his day with a touchdown on fourth down, the eventual game-winning score for the Orange.
Across his last three games, Meeks has been exceptional, averaging over nine receptions and 114 yards per game. Additionally, he’s reached the end zone in all three games. Meeks led the receiving trio of him, Trebor Peña and Oronde Gadsden II, who each recorded at least six catches, totaling 265 yards. It’s the second time in three weeks Meeks has earned the ACC’s Receiver of the Week honor.
Barron, a senior who has played all over the field in his four years at SU, played primarily linebacker against the Wolfpack. In his new role, Barron totaled eight tackles, a sack, an interception, a fumble recovery and two tackles for loss. According to Pro Football Focus, Barron was Syracuse’s highest-graded defender from the contest with an 80.9 mark.
Meeks and Barron are the seventh and eighth players to earn ACC weekly honors in 2024. Linebacker Marlowe Wax earned the honor after his Week 1 performance while Kyle McCord and left tackle Da’Metrius Weatherspoon won weekly awards after SU’s Week 2 win over then-No. 23 Georgia Tech. Meeks was named the conference’s Wide Receiver of the Week following a big day versus Holy Cross. Running back LeQuint Allen Jr. and edge rusher Fadil Diggs earned honors after SU’s overtime win over UNLV.
