Syracuse goaltender Louise Pert was named Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Pert played all 140 minutes in SU’s matchups with Wake Forest and then-No. 9 Duke and didn’t allow a goal.
On Friday, No. 15 Syracuse faced off against Wake Forest. Pert only faced one shot on goal, making a clean save on the attempt. However, Sunday is when Pert made her mark. The game was Syracuse’s fourth ranked matchup of the season, but Pert stood strong.
In SU’s game against Duke, the Blue Devils attempted 19 shots, seven of which were on goal. Pert racked up a career-high seven saves, keeping the score level through four quarters. She also prevented the Blue Devils from scoring during 20 more minutes through two overtime periods.
During the game, Duke also received 11 penalty corners, but couldn’t convert. The Blue Devils went on to win in a penalty stroke shootout 3-1 over the Orange.
Pert is now the second Syracuse player to win the award this season, following Vera Hekkenberg’s honor in mid-September.
