Orange stars from both sides of the field will attend
Four members of the 2024 Syracuse Orange football squad are set to suit up for the 100th East-West Shrine Bowl.
QB Kyle McCord, TE Oronde Gadsden, DE Fadil Diggs and DB Alijah Clark have all accepted their respective invites to the event, which will be held January 30th, 2025, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. Kickoff is at 8pm EST and it will be broadcast on NFL Network.
Representatives from all 32 NFL franchises will be on hand to scout these prospects. You can see the full list of players participating here.
McCord, who just announced last night that he will be competing in the Holiday Bowl as well, started all 12 regular season games for the Orange, leading them to their best campaign since 2018. McCord’s 4,326 passing yards are the most among all Division 1 quarterbacks and the most ever by a Syracuse QB in a single season. Still, his stock seems to be trending towards a day three pick.
Gadsden had his own stellar campaign after missing most of 2023 with a Lisfranc injury. OG caught 69 passes for 860 yards and five touchdowns. Several sites have lately been projecting him as high as a 3rd round pick, as his hybrid build should be enticing to plenty of NFL offenses.
Diggs was the force that SU’s defensive line sorely needed, racking up 45 tackles, 7.5 sacks and a forced fumble in his senior season. Walter Football’s Charlie Campbell has Fadil at #42 on his latest NFL Draft Big Board.
Clark had 53 tackles and four pass breakups as one of the leaders of the Syracuse secondary. He played a big role up top that expanded even further once Justin Barron permanently moved to LB. Of the bunch, he seems the most likely to be undrafted.
We wish these four soon-to-be Orange alums the best of success in Arlington and beyond.
