Your favorite TNIIAM tradition is back and better than ever in Year 3
Syracuse Orange fans, brace yourselves for a tradition like no other.
The Nunes Bowl O’Meter is back and better than ever… but with a new twist. You might recall last year’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl O’Meter or even 2022’s Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl O’Meter. This season, I’m proud to present the Pop-Tarts Bowl O’Meter, a tribute to your favorite toaster pastry.
The Pop-Tarts meter is seeking revenge on the college football committee. After following our advice and placing the Orange in the 2022 Pinstripe Bowl, the committee went astray last year, opting for SU in the Boca Raton Bowl over the Duke’s Mayo. I don’t know what that was all about, but this year, the future has never been clearer.
After a sluggish opening quarter, Syracuse got its act together and blew past Ohio, 38-22. With one of the best records in the country at 1-0, how will our new Bowl O’Meter reflect this success? Are Pop-Tarts in our future?
As you can see, there’s still a long way to go. Let’s check out where the “experts” predict the Orange to go bowling after Week 1:
ESPN – Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura
Wasabi Fenway Bowl vs Tulane Green Wave
A classic bowl game prediction. In a battle of colors, give me Orange, which is way cooler than green.
Birmingham Bowl vs Kentucky Wildcats
Headin’ down south for an ACC/SEC battle. The eligible teams for this game are listed as “Pool vs. ACC/SEC,” so while a battle against the ‘Cats is possible, it’s also highly unlikely.
Brett McMurphy – The Action Network
First Responder Bowl vs Appalachian State Mountaineers
The good news is this one comes after the new year (Jan. 3). The bad news is the unfamiliarity with the opponent. Even worse, McMurphy projects App State as an eight-point favorite? He seems pretty reliant on a Myles Farmer revenge game.
Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl vs Arizona State Sun Devils
The Sun Bowl against the Sun Devils… sounds like a nice place to be on winter break. While Tony the Tiger might represent a prestigious cereal brand, he’s got nothing on the Pop-Tart.
No bowl game
I had to double-check this one. Nothing??? CBS projects the Orange to finish below six wins, which is quite the gut punch. To make you feel better, they somehow have UConn in a bowl game despite the Huskies losing their first game by 43 points.

We’re still super early into the season, but what bowl game do you think Syracuse will end up in?
