He’s on track to be the first Orange QB drafted since Ryan Nassib
With the NFL Combine approaching, we’re keeping a close eye on news related to former Syracuse Orange players.
This week, NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks released his list of top five players by position and Kyle McCord checked in at #5 at quarterback. McCord was behind Shedeur Sanders (Colorado), Cam Ward (Miami), Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) and Jalen Milroe (Alabama).
Also on NFL.com, writer Chad Reuter released a three-round mock draft that had McCord going to the Los Angeles Rams in the third round at pick #90. This would be the highest a Syracuse quarterback has been taken since Donovan McNabb went in the 1st round to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Syracuse hasn’t had more than two players drafted in the same year since 2013 when Justin Pugh, Ryan Nassib and Shamarko Thomas all went in the first four rounds. With NFL Combine invite news hitting the wire yesterday, we should get a sense of which Orange alums will be in Indianapolis on February 24th.
