The first sellout of the Fran Brown Era is confirmed
Syracuse Orange football announced on Wednesday afternoon that its upcoming game next weekend against Holy Cross on September 28 has been officially sold out. It’s the first confirmed sell out of the Fran Brown Era and the first football sellout since October 29, 2022, when Syracuse took on Notre Dame.

Syracuse Athletics also announced there are still limited tickets available for this Friday’s game against Stanford. The Orange previously announced this week that all 100 section tickets in the lower bowl were sold out for the Stanford game.
After the Dome renovations to replace the old bleachers with new seats with backs, the capacity has shrunk to 42,784, as announced by John Wildhack and Pete Sala before the football season began. Syracuse’s announced attendance for its first two football games were 37,225 for Ohio and 39,550 for Georgia Tech.
The Holy Cross game is Family Weekend for Syracuse, inviting the families of ‘Cuse students to the Hill. It’s also the final home game before a long road trip for Orange football. After the Holy Cross game on September 28, Syracuse doesn’t return to the Dome until November 2 against Virginia Tech.

Otto’s Army also announced that they are less than 500 tickets away from setting a student attendance record. Fran Brown has often talked about his good relationship with the student section and also remarked that he needs to show more consistency to draw fans to the Dome.
Here’s the full quote (question by @m_mustion). “With football, you’ve gotta show them [the fans] some consistency…we have a long way to go for people to feel like ‘I have to be here.'” https://t.co/rCgo3kw9ku pic.twitter.com/SanhB9M5V4

At the very least, a sellout this early in Brown’s Syracuse career is an encouraging sign and perhaps is a sign of things to come.
