Another year at the TIP is about to begin
The Syracuse Orange women’s ice hockey program is looking to turn the page on what was their worst season record wise in program history. Fortunately, the biggest bright spot from that dismal 7-24-3 campaign is back in net again this year.
Allie Kelley set the program’s single-season saves record during her first year in CNY, and now the 3-time conference goalie of the week and reigning student-athlete of the year brings her .907 save percentage back in between the pipes.
Also coming back for a graduate year of hockey is Orange Captain Tatum White:

The Kingston, Ontario native appeared in every game and racked up six goals and 14 assists during her first year wearing the ‘C’ for the Orange. She’ll likely be called on to be one of the main offensive pieces, as the top four goal scorers from last season all graduated.
There are 13 new members of the squad, including three grad transfers: F Bryn Saarela and D Charli Kettyle, both former captains of their respective Hockey East teams, and Klára Jandušíková, who competed for DIII Colby College in Maine. SU will dress eight freshmen, five sophomores, six juniors, no seniors, and five grads in total.
‘Cuse hits the ice for the first time today at 1pm for an exhibition against University of Windsor (Ontario), then plays for keeps beginning next weekend with a two-game set at Minnesota-Duluth. Their home opener is Friday, October 4th at 5:30 against Stonehill, and conference play in the rebranded AHA starts with a trip to Penn State October 31.
There will be 17 home games (18 counting the scrimmage) this season, and you can see when they’ll all be with the full schedule below:

SU and Lindenwood were tied for last in the preseason coaches’ poll, with Penn State projected to threepeat as conference champions.
Check back throughout the coming months for updates on Britni Smith’s team as they look to return to contending status in her third year leading the program.
