Featuring some improvements from the opening week
As the Syracuse Orange football season rolls along, so does the NFL’s. We’re checking in again on what the nine active alums have been up to in the pros over the past two weeks.
Matthew Bergeron (Atlanta Falcons) – Berg played much more like the blocker SU fans were used to seeing in his college career, not allowing a single pressure in games against the Eagles and Chiefs. He scored respective PFF pass-blocking grades of 83.1 and 86.6 – both among the Top 5 in his career so far.
Andre Cisco (Jacksonville Jaguars) – #5 on the Jags had five tackles (three solo) during their home opener against Cleveland, then followed it up with four tackles (two solo) and a pass breakup during their trip to Buffalo. His defensive metrics, especially in pass coverage are far lower this year than the past three – something he can hopefully address quickly as Duvall tries to salvage a season already in freefall.
Tommy DeVito (New York Giants) – Tommy Cutlets is waiting on the sauce as he hasn’t entered a game for the G-Men yet.
Riley Dixon (Denver Broncos) – Dixon was busy again in Week 2, punting six times against the Steelers, averaging over 50 yards per attempt, and pinning them inside the 20 on half. The Bronco offense finally woke up in Tampa Bay, giving him a much lighter workload of two punts for 47 and 49 yards in Week 3.
Zaire Franklin (Indianapolis Colts) – Indy’s defensive leader had 10 tackles (five solo) and forced a fumble in their loss at Green Bay, then led the team with 15 tackles (five solo) in their recent win over Chicago. He also helped force five QB hurries between the two games.
Trishton Jackson (Minnesota Vikings) – No targets yet for the wideout, though he did line up for a few plays against both San Francisco and Houston.
Ifeatu Melifonwu (Detroit Lions) – Has yet to make his season debut due to an ankle injury and remains questionable for this week. The good news is Lions’ Head Coach Dan Campbell does not feel Iffy will be heading to I.R.
Sean Tucker (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – Had his first carry of the season for four yards this past Sunday.
Garrett Williams (Arizona Cardinals) – The second-year corner had one tackle against the Rams and three versus the Lions.
Be sure to check back every other week throughout the fall as we recap the latest pro Orange performances.
