The Orange are one of many high-major programs involved, not a surprise, given Eaglestaff’s standing as one of the top scorers in college basketball. The Bismarck, ND native averaged 18.9 points per game for his home-state school in 2024-25 as a junior, shooting 41.6% from the field and 35.9% from three.
In December, Eaglestaff scored 40 points against Alabama on national TV, in a game that turned him into a national name in college basketball.

Eaglestaff has always been a gifted scorer, but shifted into UND’s primary ball-handling option as well this year, allowing him to be the primary operator out of ball screens. He went from 124 ball screen possessions to 340, and he ranked in the 57th percentile in efficiency on those ball screens.
Before the season, I wondered if Eaglestaff could become this year’s version of Frankie Fidler, who averaged 20 points per game in the Summit League for Omaha before transferring to Michigan State. While Fidler was a little underwhelming for MSU, I think Eaglestaff’s game is probably better suited to the high-major level in terms of his shot creation and shotmaking abilities.
It would be extremely hard for Syracuse to land him, contested by programs like Kentucky, Kansas, and Alabama, but the Orange have to do their due diligence.
