After a big win over Hopkins, a couple members of the Orange received some additional accolades.
Coming off their biggest win of the season against Johns Hopkins on Sunday, a pair of Syracuse Orange players were recognized for their efforts in helping SU pull off the 13-10 victory.
Attacker Owen Hiltz was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week thanks to his five-point, four-goal performance, and Jimmy McCool was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week on the back of his 12 saves, three ground balls and 54.5 save percentage.

Hiltz led the team with his points and goals and played a central role in the pivotal fourth quarter where the Orange secured the win. He picked up a point on three of SU’s last four goals, including an assist on the eventual game-winner.
McCool had arguably the best game of his career, making 12 saves while only surrendering 10 goals to help the team pick up their first Top 10 win of the season. McCool and the defense only gave up four second-half goals, while he also made four big saves in the fourth quarter to help SU pull away for the win.
This is the third time this year a Syracuse player has won ACC Offensive Player of the Week, after Michael Leo and Joey Spallina did it in back-to-back weeks to begin the season. It’s the first time this year a ‘Cuse player has been named defensive player of the week. It’s also the first time in six weeks this year that one school has swept the ACC weekly awards.
Owen, Jimmy and the Orange will be back in action next week when they host the Manhattan Jaspers on Tuesday, March 18 at 7 PM on ACC Network Extra.
