Syracuse also won a tennis title this week
The Syracuse Orange athletics season is in full swing so we are back with these weekly recaps as we look to broaden our coverage of the Olympic sports.
Field Hockey (10-4, 4-3)
The Orange almost had a major road win but the #4 Virginia Cavaliers forced overtime and then won the shootout. Bo Van Kempen scored her team-leading 12th goal on the season.

Syracuse will host Virginia and Virginia Tech as they look to get into the win column in ACC play.
Cross-Country
The Orange were back in Wisconsin for the Pre-Nationals meet on Saturday. The Syracuse women finished 15th (4th among ACC teams) behind Savannah Roark (25th place) and Emma Eastman (54th place). The duo picked up 38 places in the final 2k and likely earned the Orange some at-large points.
Sam Lawler (34th place) led the men who placed their five runners within 20 seconds of one another en route to an 8th-place team finish. The Orange men should be in good shape to make the NCAA Championships but they are going to need to get the pack up higher to be competitive at the ACC meet in two weeks.
Ice Hockey (2-5, 0-0)
Syracuse dropped two games at #10 Quinnipiac over the weekend. In Saturday’s game, Allie Kelley made 43 saves while Rylee McLeod scored the lone Orange goal in the two games.
The Orange will host Boston University this weekend.
