Syracuse ice hockey was expected to play No. 7 Minnesota Duluth in Duluth, Minn., for its first two games of the season. Scheduled to play Saturday and Sunday, SU abruptly announced Friday that the season-opening series has been postponed.
Complications from Hurricane Helene have made travel difficult for the Orange, who were supposed to fly between Syracuse and Duluth. The teams have rescheduled the series to Jan. 2 and 3 for what will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
Syracuse now opens its season against Stonehill from Oct. 4-5 at Tennity Ice Pavilion. SU last faced the Skyhawks on Feb. 18, 2023, in a 4-2 victory.
