Lots of movement this week
At the request of Syracuse Orange fans, we’re going to give you our ACC Football Power Rankings. Let’s get to this week’s list….
1) Miami Hurricanes (9-0, 5-0)- looked like the Canes might fall but they poured it on in the 2nd half and Cam Ward can probably book his trip to NYC for the Heisman Ceremony
2) SMU Mustangs (8-1, 5-0)- after watching their opening game against Nevada where they needed a late rally, it’s a bit surprising to see them with an inside track to Charlotte
3) Louisville Cardinals (6-3, 4-2)- last week we said “Will they play spoiler at Clemson? Jim Phillips hopes not”….well sorry Jim but they
4) Clemson Tigers (6-2, 5-1)- trap game alert as Clemson hosts Louisville, but with a trip to Blacksburg looming next week, will they be focused on the Cardinals.
5) Pittsburgh Panthers (7-1, 3-1)- as stated on the board (sorry missed who said it) “we missed the Narduzz-ing by a week”
6) Syracuse Orange (6-2, 3-2) – after what we’ve experienced, there are no apologies for beating anyone’s backup quarterback
7) Virginia Tech Hokies (5-4, 3-2) – big opportunity for the Hokies to rebound at home against Clemson but it better not be close as Brent Pry is 1-11 in one-score games. Yikes
8) Duke Blue Devils (6-3, 2-3)- gave Miami a good scare but they can get revenge in basketball
9) Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (5-4, 3-3)- Haynes King missing time opens up a spot for Kyle McCord to earn All-ACC honors
10) NC State Wolfpack (5-4, 2-3)- Still going to be weird when NC State finishes 7-5 and Syracuse fans argue that it wasn’t a solid road win
11) Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-4, 2-2)- can Clawson get them back to a bowl game after an awful start?
12) North Carolina Tar Heels (5-4, 2-3)- not a shock that they beat FSU but they dominated for the 2nd week in a row….return of the Mack indeed
13) Virginia Cavaliers (4-4, 2-3) – the Cavs finish with Pitt, Notre Dame, SMU and Virginia Tech. Ouch
14) Boston College Eagles (4-4, 1-3)- will we get a “there’s a long drive by Castellanos” next week? If so, Twitter might implode..
15) California Golden Bears (4-4, 0-4)- we’ve seen enough of the last two teams to move Cal up off their bye
16) Stanford Cardinal (2-7, 1-5) – Syracuse needs to lobby the ACC to never play Stanford before they start classes. Clearly the academic rigor is impacting this team.
17) Florida State Seminoles (1-8, 1-7) – do you think Mike Norvell wishes he took a longer look at the Alabama job? do you think FSU’s boosters wish they had more money to buy him out? ************************************************************************************************
Tell us what we got wrong this week
